SWEDAVIA - LANDVETTER AIRPORT

In the spring of 2018, Swedavia entrusted me with a remarkable opportunity: to adorn the terminal walls of Gothenburg Airport with a striking mural. Spanning 9 meters in width and 3 meters in height, this mural, strategically located near the arrival and departure halls, aimed to leave a lasting impression on both residents and tourists alike.

Drawing inspiration from Sweden's rich cultural heritage, I envisioned a tableau featuring four lifelike Dala horses galloping through a sun-kissed field. Recognized as an emblem of Swedish identity, the Dala horse symbolizes tradition and vitality, making it the perfect symbol to greet travelers arriving in or departing from Gothenburg.

This initial mural quickly became an integral part of the airport's ambiance, serving as a warm and inviting welcome to visitors. In early 2020, Swedavia extended another invitation, this time to adorn the expansive walls of the new terminal at Landvetter Airport in Gothenburg. It marked the second collaboration between Swedavia and myself.

For this project, I chose to celebrate the diverse tapestry of West Sweden, dedicating sections of the mural to its vibrant cities, iconic landmarks, and cherished folk traditions. With over 6 million annual visitors passing through the terminal, these murals offered a captivating glimpse into the region's cultural richness.

Finally, in 2024, I was thrilled to embark on a third installment of this remarkable journey. This time, my focus was on capturing Landvetter Airport's unwavering commitment to sustainable travel while showcasing the renowned attractions that make Gothenburg a beloved destination.
