PROJECT PLAYGROUND SOUTH AFRICA

In November of 2013, I embarked on a transformative journey to South Africa, where I ventured into the heart of the Langa township. My voyage was at the gracious invitation of Project Playground, a noble charity organization committed to offering sanctuary to underprivileged children. Through a myriad of creative outlets including art, music, dance, and sports, Project Playground endeavors to shield these young souls from the perils of crime, drug abuse, and neglect.

Over the span of ten profound days, I dedicated myself to nurturing the artistic talents of these resilient children, conducting enriching art classes and adorning the school's main play area with vibrant murals. Each stroke of paint breathed life into the walls, infusing the environment with a palpable sense of joy and optimism.

The following year, Project Playground and I joined forces to host a solo exhibition in Stockholm, showcasing artworks crafted from materials sourced directly from Langa. Inspired by my profound experiences there, these paintings served as a poignant reflection of the resilience and spirit of the community. The exhibition proved to be a resounding success, with every piece finding a home and generating over half a million SEK in donations, all of which were dedicated to furthering the noble cause of Project Playground.

This impactful collaboration remains one of the most cherished and influential projects of my career. In gratitude for the profound impact it has had on me, I am humbled to continue my partnership with Project Playground on an annual basis. It is a privilege to stand alongside the visionary founders, Frida Vastberg and H.R.H. Princess Sofia Bernadotte of Sweden in their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need.
