Solar Panels Art Kalmar Hospitals

In late 2025, I was commissioned by Region Kalmar in southern Sweden to create an artwork celebrating the region’s transition to solar-powered hospitals. While the original request was for a traditional canvas piece about sustainability, I proposed painting directly onto decommissioned solar panels instead.

Ten panels were created for ten hospitals, connected by a visual red thread. The central motif of a human heart intertwined with foliage symbolizes growth, renewal, and the link between human health and the natural world. Each panel also features the kilowatt output of its respective hospital, grounding the concept in measurable impact.

The works are now permanently installed across the region’s hospitals, reflecting their commitment to sustainable progress.
